Award-winning copywriter, content writer and social media manager.

Oh my god, you want to know more about me? This is getting serious! Well, I guess I should start with… It was a cold Autumn night in a little town called Carndonagh. Turf smoke billowed into the icy air as my mum reached for her birth bag… don’t worry, I won’t actually start from the beginning.
I’m Angela, I’m 29, and I’m a copywriter from Ireland. One of my biggest goals is to have a varied career, and I’m making a pretty good stab at it. Copywriting is by far my biggest gig and where I spend the most time, but that’s not the full picture.
I have an embroidery Etsy where I sell little handmade hoops. Let me set the scene for my favourite kind of winter evening:
It’s dark outside because the sun sets at 2pm in Belfast. I have a vanilla candle burning while I watch a booktuber rate their monthly favourites. In my left hand is a piece of cotton held taut by an embroidery hoop. In my right hand is a needle and thread, slowly weaving across my design. The repetitive sound of a needle gently piercing the underside of cotton is one of my favourite sounds, second only to the sound of my pug snoring.
I also have a small roster of dog-minding clients who occasionally stay in my home. Calling dogs ‘clients’ is actually insane, but I’m going with it because, in reality, the dogs that stay with me are quite discerning. I’ve had ‘clients’ who will only eat freshly baked salmon at precisely 8am and 6pm. I’ve had other ‘clients’ who must walk the same route every morning, otherwise they spin in circles all day. Luckily, freelance life has prepared me for the trials and tribulations of client relationships.
I know you’re nosey so here you go:
Obviously, I also do stuff just for fun, like getting drunk with my friends on a Saturday night. I can’t pretend like that is a third business, but if there was a way I could make a profit from it, I would.
I’m also an avid walker because (womp womp) my mental health needs a lot of gentle love and care. A 30-minute walk outside is a sure-fire way to get me from a shaky, anxious mess to a semi-put-together person. Crafting, reading and journaling are also on the list of ‘Things That Make Angela Less Mental’ too.
Anyway, back to copywriting. I took a pretty meandering path to get to where I am now, and I think that’s WHY I’m so good at what I do now. At 18, I spent a year studying journalism before deciding I wanted a career that didn’t require me to leave Ireland.
I went on to study Business and Marketing at ATU Sligo, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a First Class Honours Degree. I thought studying business meant that my dreams of being a writer had ended. How wrong could I have been?
My first ‘professional’ role was an E-Commerce Manager for a small family-run company. I set up their new shop, writing product descriptions, creating email marketing and 100 other jobs. Then I moved on to be a Marketing Executive at a marketing company in South Sligo. I wrote blogs, managed social media, updated websites, and so much more. I won a Soccie during my time there for the best Facebook For A Business or Brand, which I’m still ecstatically proud of.
In 2022, I decided to leave Sligo and move to Belfast. While I was looking for remote roles to work during the move, I slowly built a roster of freelance clients who were a dream. I wrote blogs, improved their website copy, managed their social media, developed content strategies, and eventually became a full-time copywriter.
In 2024, I took an in-house role at Zap as a Content Writer Manager, where I manage a small team of writers. My responsibilities span a plethora of areas, including website management, Knowledge Base management, blogging strategy and creation, app copywriting, internal documentation, and so much more.
Don’t be scared off because I have full time job, I still do freelance work outside of my 9-5. If you’d like to work together, press the button and I’ll be chatting to you ASAP.
